Golden-bellied Hummingbird
The golden-bellied emerald is a bird of the order Apodiformes, family Trochilidae. It is very common in vast areas of South America; it lives throughout Uruguay and Paraguay, most of Bolivia except for the Andean peaks, eastern Brazil and all of central and northern Argentina with the exception of the mountainous areas.
It is characterized by the male having a red beak with a black tip, a bluish barb, emerald green plumage and a dark blue tail; the female has a grey beak with pink tones at its base, the green on the back is paler, the ventral area is greyish to greyish whitish with some green feathers like spots, in the eye area there is sometimes a line of a similar colour to the ventral one. It measures 9 cm in length; the beak is 2 cm.
