Long-tailed Hummingbird
The greater long-tailed hummingbird, also called the long-tailed hummingbird or its scientific name (Lesbia victoriae), is a species of bird of the Trochilidae family, and of the Apodiformes order that is found between 2,500 and 3,800 meters above sea level in the Andes from Colombia to Peru.
Males are between 21 and 24 centimetres long. When in new plumage, the tail feathers are long and black, the rest of the feathers are green with an iridescent patch on the throat and chest and all gold on the back. Females measure between 13.5 and 14.5 centimetres. They have a shorter tail with colours similar to those of the male, differing in a creamy hue on the ventral area with green spots.
Meaning of Hummingbirds? The hummingbird embodies a symbolism with a powerful spiritual meaning, as it represents the resurrection of souls. In some ancient cultures it means death in the cold nights of winter and resurrection to life with the dawn of spring.
Symbolizing joy, healing, and adaptability, a hummingbird is no coincidence and can bring many positive things, from a dose of joy to a message from a loved one who is no longer with us.
