Starfish
The symbolism of the starfish also comes from an ancient Greek legend that is very dear to the natives of Crete , the largest island in Greece. They say that there was a young fisherman with very little income, who was in love with a beautiful local girl. The young woman was also courted by one of the richest men in Crete. This caused immense doubts to the beautiful girl, who was torn between love and economic stability.
The young man, realizing the difficult situation he was facing, prayed to the god Poseidon, lord and master of the seas, for a solution. Poseidon helped the boy by extinguishing all the stars in the sky, causing them to sink into the ocean, thus transforming them into the starfish we know today. Poseidon gave the fisherman a handful of these starfish to give to his beautiful love.
During a romantic encounter on the ocean shore, the young fisherman gave her the starfish and the girl fell madly in love with him. This beautiful legend has turned these little animals into a symbol of good fortune. That is why many people carry starfish around with them, taking them as amulets for good luck.
